Marjaana Kopperin Helsingin yliopistossa tekemässä tutkimuksessa tarkastellaan globaalistumisprosessia etiikan näkökulmasta.
Keskustelu siitä, kenen ehdoilla globaalia taloutta ohjataan, on käymässä yhä tärkeämmäksi. Jos talouden vapauttamista perustellaan kaikkien hyvinvoinnin lisääntymisellä, on taloudellisten näkökohtien lisäksi kiinnitettävä entistä enemmän huomiota myös eettisiin, sosiaalisiin ja ekologisiin tekijöihin. Globaalitalous tuokin poliittisille päättäjille uudenlaisia haasteita ja vaatimuksia.
Päättäjien on niin kansainvälisellä kuin valtiollisella ja paikallisellakin tasolla kyettävä sovittamaan hyvinvointia koskevat kysymykset yhteen taloudellisten päämäärien kanssa.
