How to Managing Conflict is one a very important skill. It is said that working with others in groups will (from time to time) involve some conflict. According Picherak (2003) conflict occurs where people have a clash of values, expectations, opinions, interpretations, needs or wants.  It is very true  they write up on University of Brittish Columbia Webpages: Learning to manage conflict effectively will help you in many areas of your life and it is an essential component of your learning through group work.

Remember always that conflict is:
  • natural.
  • uncomfortable for most of us.
  • a barrier to conversation/dialogue.
  • sometimes necessary, even desirable to achieve a truly collaborative outcome.
  • very important to address and not avoid.
